Aims and Scope

The Journal of Design Service and Social Innovation (JDSSI) is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research in design services, social innovation, and design culture. The journal provides a platform for original research addressing theoretical, methodological, and practical challenges in design and its role in responding to complex societal issues.

JDSSI publishes high-quality contributions in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Service design and social innovation
  • Sustainable and user-centered design
  • Design-driven strategies for social transformation
  • Interdisciplinary approaches integrating design, social sciences, cultural studies, and related fields

The journal particularly focuses on the convergence of design research and social innovation practices, fostering the application of research outcomes in real-world contexts. JDSSI promotes cross-cultural and international perspectives, facilitating scholarly dialogue between Eastern and Western traditions of design research.

JDSSI welcomes original research articles, review papers, and case studies from researchers, practitioners, and scholars worldwide.

Peer Review and Editorial Governance

Peer Review Process:


All submissions to JDSSI undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance. Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ reports and established academic standards.

Editorial Board Governance:


JDSSI is guided by an international editorial board composed of scholars and experts from diverse disciplinary and geographic backgrounds. The board maintains the academic quality and integrity of the journal, oversees the peer-review process, and ensures adherence to international publishing ethics and standards. Decisions are made independently of commercial considerations, and all members uphold principles of transparency, fairness, and scholarly rigor.

JDSSI adheres to the guidelines and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ensuring ethical compliance in all editorial and publishing activities.
